Wrap Star

Trader Joes is one of the greatest food stores I've ever found - below is by far the best product I've purchased there. If you have the chance, I think you should buy them too! So spicy, so awesome (I would even go as far as to say BONKERS), so versatile.

Get em.

Tomorrow is my company's summer party. We are going to a country club in NJ. The day will be full of team activities (oh joy), wine & cooking class, fun with friends and booze. Should be a nice day! I need to get a good nights sleep so I'm off.

Happy Weds :)

Springing Springity Spring Sprang

Hi There

Happy Wednesday :)

The weather in New York is getting better and better.  We didn't have a real winter (not a problem) and spring is here early! Today is was so warm that all of the patios were full at all the restaurants near my apartment - loved it.

I stopped by a local produce stand near my place and picked up some goodies. I grabbed 2 boxes of strawberries, 3 red peppers, an avocado, and a bag of romaine  for $7.

I threw together a little platter for dinner with strawberries, avocado with hot sauce and red peppers to dip in the greatest hummus on earth.

Ridiculously garlicy
To keep my healthy lifestyle "balanced", I poured myself a hefty glass of wine. After a long day at work I absolutely needed this.

It felt good to have a totally raw dinner. I rarely find myself eating entirely raw meals but it definitely left me feeling fresh and healthy :) In an effort to get ready for bikini season, I need eat this type of meal more often!

Today was I crazy busy at work. I've started my new role and it is pretty intense. I really like what I'm doing BUT it is totally different than my previous role. Let's just say it's a steep learning curve and I could use a corporate jet pack to get to the top. I have a lot to learn about being in sales: being bold, aggressive and extroverted is not totally natural for me. Day by day!

How do you get through a steep learning curve?

What are your favorite raw dinners?

Sometimes, BF makes me dinner

I'm a lucky girl - my boyfriend is a good cook.

Last weekend he made me dinner and it was amazing. We had lots of chopped veggie, chilli tempura shrimp (I can kiss those goodbye from now on:S) and delicious baked salmon.

incredible chilli sauce from Whole Foods & some Pinot Grigio

Who was the last person to make you a meal? Who do you like to cook for?

My idea of fast food

Vanessa’s Dumplings is one of my favorite places to go in New York.
I insist that I get to go once every 2 weeks – otherwise, I go through dumpling withdrawal.

Why should you go here?

Crazy cheap.
Tasty.
Filling.

It is always mad busy = great sign. It is extremely affordable. For 2 people, you can get a ton of food for under $10. They make the dumplings, soups, buns and pancake sandwiches right in front of you in a open kitchen (very exciting / fun / entertaining).

If you’re in the city, here are some tips on how to survive this crazy-loud yet lovable spot:
1) Look at the menu outside & decide what you want before going in. Get to the counter & order quickly. You may need to shout.
2) Have money ready, pay and hang on to your receipt.
3) Shuffle down to the counter and watch in awe as the dumpling ladies move methodically while cooking.
4) Listen carefully for your receipt number & hand your receipt to a dumpling lady when you hear it.
5) Get it to go. Ask for extra hot sauce.
6) Go home & enjoy over a movie.

My favorite thing on the menu – boiled veggie dumplings. (Extra hot sauce please). These are filled with mushroom, little pieces of tofu, hoisin sauce, carrot, onions and scallions. You can get these guys in soup  or on a plate.
hot & sour soup w/ veggie dumplings - under $5. unbelievable enjoyment - priceless

BF's pork buns (teehee)

I almost always have to get a veggie bun while I’m there. These things are only a $1.50.
If you go, you should probably get one too…. And a hot & sour soup!

I hope you’re having a good week. This is a short work week for me – unfortunately it is going sloooooooowly. I just want it to be EOD Wednesday!

Have you had dumplings before? What did you think?

Mexi-Medi Salad

You'll need these.
In your largest bowl, put in your favorite Mexican salad ingredients

Romaine, sweet onion, tomato, shredded cheddar, 1/2 an avocado
Add the good stuff.

With some hot sauce for good measure.
Repeat at lunch. + Fake chicken.

I'm headed to a happy hour at Wicked Willy's

Wicked Willy’s is not the bashful type: its kitschy, pirate theme-park décor—replete with nautical knickknacks, netting, chandeliers, mini–pirate ships, and a grinning skull-and-bones—is just the garnish for the bar’s nightly frat party. Appropriately, the action is dominated by hypercompetitive games of beer pong and flip cup.

Beer pong, here I come :)

Have a good night :) Enjoy:

Cute & innocent
Crazy & possessed.
